In your presence is fullness of joy and at your right hand are pleasures for evermore.
Delight yourself in the Lord.

Winter's Not All Sitting on the Couch

The TV shows have been put on hold (and hopefully a few extra pounds) this last couple of weeks. Jacob's class came home with an assignment to build an Egyptian pyramid after a unit they studied in school. It was kind of fun, and a lot more work than the science experiment from earlier in the fall. He didn't wear the hat the whole time... It's got a sarcophagus with a mummy inside, canopic jars that the internal organs go in, and stuff to take with them to the afterlife. Jacob has a friend who lived in Egypt, his stuff will be way cool. Who knows, he may have authentic items (hopefully not the organs - yikes!) Now if only they would let us talk about what the Christian takes with him to the afterlife...Jesus!
The braces may look familiar - we are onto set #2. This is normal for the cleft kid. After two surgeries, one to repair the cleft and one bone graft to hold his teeth, teeth being pulled and a final set of braces we are beginning to see the end after 10 years. God has been gracious to us in Jacob's case. His mouth and bone structure looks good, his voice is normal, and he has a good attitude! Hopefully this will be the last of the major things, of course they always offer to fine tune him but we think he is pretty fine the way he is, we'll see down the road.
We also had a orchestra concert postponed from before Christmas with Frosty the Snowman and everything! Jacob plays the violin and has one more concert this year. He was fiddling pretty hard, almost looked like Charlie Daniels! He will probably move onto chorus next year (jr. high) like Laura and Blake did and give up the violin, but that's ok, we like his voice.

Pre-School Friends

No we haven't been together since preschool but our children have been. Ashley, her sis-in-law Delilah, Sheryl and I have been meeting together for coffee sometimes weekly since our kids started preschool together. Let's see now, that's been like 7-8 years - yikes! We were all looking to connect and someone suggested meeting for coffee one day. We've covered lots of topics during our years together, catching each other up on our lives, encouraging and challenging each other through all the changes in our lives. People drop in from time to time to hang out with us like Delilah and many other friends and relatives even. Our good friend Carrie works full time now after going on to school, but we see her occasionally too. We also have left the booth at Panera to occasionally do other things together too (funny they always seem to involve food though). I thank God for each of them and what they mean to me and if you've been one of the drop-ins, I'm thankful for you too, you've enriched our experience. And if you haven't hung out with us, you can find us many Monday mornings at 9, maybe we'll see you....
