Happy Easter

We spent a quiet Easter at home with Grandma and the Smiths who brought lunch, how nice! I think most of us, especially me even got naps! Shelby B. made us a bunny cake which was really cool! We did our annual coloring eggs and hunting the elusive Easter baskets. How can it take so long to find a couple of dozen eggs and two baskets in a space of maybe 700 sq. feet of living/dining room? I guess they get hid really well! We also praise God for loving us SO MUCH, yet while we don't deserve it, that He gave His life for us so that we can have abundant life now and forever with Him if only we will believe. What an awesome God that would love even me....

Jacob has a unit in social studies where they travel the Oregon trail leaving from Independence Mo. They have to decide on supplies to take and then leave behind for lightening the weight as they cross swollen rivers, deserts, rough plains. They choose their families and are dealt "fate" cards where things happen to them and they have to learn to cope. Some of them make it and some don't, just like it really happened. They also earn points to help them on their journey. Part of that included Jacob making a sod house out of dirt, sticks, and sod, and corn fritters which he looked up on the web and fried up to serve to his class. It's a fun project that all the kids have done, one they remember. I just hope he makes it all the way! :)
