See that picture in the top right corner of the blog? Well, we got pretty close by driving to Florida during spring break. We went to St. Augustine Beach and rented a little house with the kids. It was only about a block from the beach so it was just great. We started off right away with sunburns that eventually did turn brown. Blake got a whole summer's worth I think in one week. We spent lots of time doing nothing but soaking up the sun napping, playing in the water and the sand. Jacob got buried at least twice in the sand, once vertically. We walked the beach looking for shells and walking to the pier where the kids said someone caught a small hammerhead. All we ever saw was a small jellyfish. Mom spent lots of time making sure no one ventured out too far.
We took a day and drove to New Smyrna Beach, south of Daytona so the Blake and Adam could try out their surfing abilities. They had lots of fun trying. We did not make it to Disney World, but would have gone to a spring training baseball game if we had been closer.
We took one day doing the tourist thing in St. Augustine. We went to the fort that was originally defended by the Spanish when it was first built and then by the British later during the Revolutionary War. We even found the Fountain of Youth Ponce de Leon was looking for. But since we already have eternal life, we passed on actually going in to get some of the water for eternal youth.
